Screen Comparison:
This handset is said to be quite big and Sony Ericsson tried to justify this argument by stating that the handset is equipped with big screen resolution, but there are sets like Nokia 7370 and Samsung D600 as well that also have big screen with QVGA resolution but their sizes are not as much big.Thickness & Weight:
It seems to be thinner than S700 but it is only 0.5mm thinner but on other hand it is 11g up in weight.Information Unavailable While Stand-by Mode:
Time and similar other information is not available to the user while the set is in stand by mode, to see this information one needs to activate the hand set that seems quite odd.Copying Folders:
The handset’s file system doesn’t provide the functionality of copying the folders directly rather it only provides the means of copying files.Shutter Sound:
There are three shutter sounds available, you can choose one from them but you cannot turn it off which doesn’t suits the needs of many people.Should be Quad-Band Instead Tri-Band:
Although Sony Ericsson has embedded diverse functionalities in this single handset, but still there are some lacks e.g. if they would have been made this phone a quad-band then they would have focused the needs of a large group of people and ultimately their sales would have been dramatically increased.Exchangeable Covers:
The package is perfect if it could also provide exchangeable covers.AM Radio:
Currently most of the dealers provide FM radio functions, but what about AM
radio? Most of the people listen to AM stations, due to their diverse reporting
e.g., live sports, talk shows, 24 hours news & traffic report etc. So why
big players in phone market are not providing AM Radio in their handsets to
make them more diverse? This will not only make their products more attractive
to most of peoples but will also help them to beat their competitors. Sony Ericsson,
who is providing multi purpose handsets should also cope their handsets with
this feature as well to remain at the top in handset market.
Key-Locking Feature:
The "lock" feature is not as good as it should be; the media player starts sometimes alone in your pocket, which put away all your battery without any warning. The worst thing happens when the WAP key on front of the phone is pressed, if you don't carefully lock the phone, it will be pressed again and again, consuming all your minutes for no reason. Sony Ericsson should improve the locking feature for this specific handset.WI-FI:
Sony Ericsson have not provided Wi-Fi in their handsets which is an upcoming technology, so they will be facing a big competition with Nokia branded sets which does or going to provide this feature in near future. Beating Nokia (N91) will be a big challenge for them, if they would have provided WI-FI in this handset then they would have won this bout. Conclusion:
W900 is the best mobile I have ever seen; Although Sony Ericsson leads the market by providing Multitasking Walkman phone, that supports a lot many audio formats and can also provide FM services, OTA music download, their best video and picture quality, supporting 3-D games which can also be downloadable, easy to use GUI and all needed accessories in same package, but there is always a chance of improvement so if Sony Ericsson pays more attention to the Locking-Features, supported bands, Wi-Fi and AM Radio then there is no doubt that their handset will be the best handset available in the market.
