W900 or Sakura, don’t confuse these two diverse terms, these are the two different names given to the same mobile during different phases of development. Actually W900 was the final name given to the handset which was named Sakura during development phase.

Package:

Currently, the package for this handset includes a Battery, a Stereo headset HPM-80 with built in radio and board, a Manual USB-cable, a PC Software (Disc2Phone) for handset, a Charger, MS Duo 64 MB but don’t worry Sony Ericsson cannot forget adding a Handset in this package along with a Strap for hand.

Expected Release:

According to manufacturers W900 was expected to release in fourth Quarter of year 2005, and their expectations were right up to the mark and Sony Ericsson launched two version of W900 in last quarter of 2005 rather more precisely in October,

Versions:

W900 is a slim, smart and swivel designed phone launched by Sony Ericsson having size of 109mm x 49mm x 24mm (4.3" x 1.9" x 0.9"). It is a light-weight handset that only weighs 148 g. Is not this a lightweight? It is a first walkman phone for 3G networks on account of Sony Ericsson. W900 was launched in two versions to target different areas.

W900i - Dual mode UMTS (2100MHz) - GPRS 900/1800/1900 for (EMEA) Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific as well.
W900c - Dual mode UMTS (2100MHz) - GPRS 900/1800/1900 for Mainland China.

Phone Structure:

Keys Design: A digital keypad is under the screen, keys are of good size with white back-light, keys are flat over the keypad. Right Side: As usual, on the right side of handset there are two volume control buttons; there is also a camera button available on the same side. The camera button has dual functionality, if you press camera button for some time then it will activate the camera but if you keep it pressed for few seconds then it will activate video capturing mode. While in video mode the volume keys will serve the purpose of zoom. Left Side: On the left side there is a Music button which always starts MP3 by default, a Memory cards MS Duo (up to 4 GB) socket, Keypad blocking and activating or deactivating of Flash light in video mode can also be done from the interface provided. Bottom Side: At the bottom side there is a rubber coder that encloses openings for strap and Fast Port as well. Back Side: Wow! all in one, the handset has a 2-Mega pixel camera on the back side, so it seems that the designers were really concerned about photographics in this model as well but in my point of view if that was so then they should have made some protective arrangements for the camera as well but I couldn’t find such measures in this model, the worst thing is that the camera doesn’t have a protective shutter, which seems that the designers focused more on music abilities of this handset than pictorial features. Front Side:

On the front side top left corner of the screen, a small VGA camera is mounted.
