s700i, s710 cell phone
At 09-Mar-2004 Sony ericsson unveiled another new phone s700i which is clearly based
on SO505I phone released in Japan last year. This phone depicts its own class by its
huge screen and a 1.3 megapixel built-in camera.
This
time, the screen is capable of showing 262k color depth (18k) instead of 65k, which will increase
the quality of the screen. Again, the concept of dual front is shown in sony ericsson s700i. In fact,
the swivel design of the phone enables users to use it in 3 different ways. When the phone is closed,
it's possible to view messages, browse menus, and make calls via 5-way navigation, or to use the soft
keys under the screen. When the phone is half open, you can take pictures in landscape mode. Finally,
users can open the phone in a swivel motion to access the key pad and take the pictures in portrait
mode.
There are two types of sensors in digital cameras. One is CMOS and other is CCD. CMOS is a cheap one and is used in webcams and simple mobile phone cameras. And CCD sensor is the sensor of a pure digital camera. Definitely, a huge difference of quality is also present between them. Hence, the use of CCD sensor in Sony ericsson s700i makes it very close to a digital camera. The 8x digital zoom and video recording feature is also there. The only thing that I think is not there is the optical zoom. But, optical zoom is not implemented yet in any cell phone yet. We can hope that it will also be there in coming years.

Sony ericsson s700i as a pure digital cam
Sony ericsson S700i is the result of working in close cooperation with Sony Corporation's camera experts. The camera supports CCD sensor with 1280x960 image resolution. Let me go a little bit off the topic. There are two types of sensors in digital cameras. One is CMOS and other is CCD. CMOS is a cheap one and is used in webcams and simple mobile phone cameras.
