M600
Sony Ericsson M600 Sony ericsson m600 could be coined as a business phone with no camera. In my opinion, the business class of cellphones has always been growing slower than the fashion class phones. The most wanted features from a business phone are extensive email support, great connectivity, easy input of data and a big display area. Sony ericsson m600 has almost got everything in this respect. On the other hand, it still might have a tough competition with the competitors.

External Design

Sony ericsson m600 is featuring nice dimensions (107mm x 57mm x 15mm) and weight (113 grams). On the first look, it seems to be a smooth rectangular phone with justice being done on both screen size and keypad size.

For years, the pecularity of sony ericsson smartphones was a full touch screen with extendible keypad. Now it has been changed and keypad has been giving a reserved space on the phone. On the other hand, the resolution of the touchscreen (240 x 320) is same as of the p series i.e p900 etc. This is just because of the 9.1 version of Symbian OS integrated with 3.0 version of UIQ interface.

Connectivity Features

Sony ericsson m600 supports both UMTS and GSM modes of communication. On the other hand, you wont be able to take advantage of video conferencing which is one of the key features of the UMTS/3G network. Another lack in connectivity is the absense of wifi which chould lead sony ericsson m600 as a second choice among business oriented smartphones.

Email Features

As far as email support is concerned, sony ericsson m600 is going to satisfy you. It supports all kinds of push email. All this is backed up by a combination of jog dial, touch screen and a dual keyboard that help you do the work in a user-friendly manner.

Memory Support

The world of memory cards yet needs to be standardized. In memory, Sony ericsson m600 is using the newer design presented by sony i.e. memory stick micro. Its key features are small size and great storage (which everyone in the world is trying to do).

A word on camera

There doesnt seem to be no words about the camera because there isnt one. This is the time when two cameras in a UMTS phone is considered normal, most of the people think the m600 case be abnormal. I would say that its a brave effort from sony ericsosn to remove the camera and let people re-think on what they call a luxury and a necessity.

Conclusion

There is no word on the price but the expected release is Q2 2006. As a conclusion, i would say that with such a burst of new modles from so many companies, sony ericsson m600 wont be such as hit in the market or to stand out in the crowd. Perhaps, it would be well known among sophisticated business users. Even there it would have to compete with motorola Q, nokia e61, blackberry etc. Each of its rival has something additional and something missing from sonyericsson m600. Which concludes that sony ericsson m600 has to pass a tough competition.
