Samsung i700 belongs to the category where the device is a PDA first and then a cell phone. Samsung i700 runs Microsoft Pocket PC Phone Edition, and supports tri-band CDMA and 1xRTT.
Design
The overall size and weight is somewhat big if you think of a cell phone. But as a PDA its the most reasonable size i.e. 132 x 70 x 18 and 160g. On top right, you will see the external antenna and on top left you can see the 270 degree rotating camera. The overall look and feel is typical as Samsung which is very satisfying.
Samsung i700 CPU
Samsung i700 has a 400Mhz processor with 64 Mb built-in Ram. You can increase your memory by the expansion slot. Samsung i700 can be configured to run at low clock speeds such as 200 Mhz, 300Mhz in low battery conditions or to prevent system crashing.
PDA features
As based on Microsoft, you can see a lot of applications like Pocket Outlook, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel etc. Furthermore, the presence of multitasking allows you to make use of these applications the most. On the fun side, it is equipped with Media player that plays mp3 and video. You can also install and customize the Samsung i700 to make the most out of it. Samsung i700 is also strong in terms of network connectivity.
Cell Phone Features
Cell phone features of Samsung i700 come at the second priority. Samsung i700 supports speakerphone. Camera is considered to be a multimedia feature instead of a cell phone or PDA feature. Camera is present but takes the maximum shot at 640 x 480 which is not comparable to any digital camera. Samsung i700 doesn't support blue tooth, so it doesnt support blue tooth headsets either.
Impressions
I dont recommend
Samsung i700 for ones who need a cell phone first and a PDA second. Infact cell phone feature in Samsung i700 is like just an accessory for Pocket PC users. A 2003 update of windows mobile is available for Samsung i700 which will fix bugs and enhance some functionalities. Furthermore, in my opinion, absence of blue tooth is a huge lapse and features of a GPS is also a mystery. And if you need a cell phone first and a PDA second, Samsung i600 could be for you.
