Samsung i300 stands out at the top of its row of new products. Samsung i300 is the first smartphoene that uses windows mobile edition 2005 (also called Magneto). Usually smartphones are designed first to cater the business users. In my opinion, Samsung i300 smartphone seems to consider the youth and fun users first. Samsung i300 contains several features that wont be accomplished by any cellphone this year, some of them are discussed below.

Salient Features

The first thing that will strike your mind is the built-in 3Gb hard drive in the cellphone. It could be a fantasy for people but its glad to see it implemented. The second innovative feature is the presence of a wheel dial instead of a joystick. This will really improve the way to navigate the cellphone. The wheel can be pressed in five directions plus moving it clockwise and anticlockwise. Certainly it will bring a lot of commands just under your thumb.
A slot for trans flash memory is also present. Furthremore, the smartphone can also act as a plug n play usb drive when connected to the pc.
Bluetooth 1.2 is supported which helps in listening CD quality music using bluetooth stereo handsfree. There is also a 3D sound generator built-into the smartphone. You will find a 1.3 MP camera, stereo speakers, TV output and a lot lot more in this smartphone.

Conslusion

There are a lot of innovations in Samsung i300. The possitive point is that the size and weight have not exceeded the limits of an elegant cellphone. There are questions about its battery requirements because of a mechanical hard drive. During tests conditions, it easily worked for 6 hours while playing continous music. I think presence of a 3Gb mechanical hard drive instead of a flash drive will also help in reducing the price. Samsung i300 is expected to be released in quarter three of 2005. Still there is no word about the price.
