Samsung e700, a fashion phone

Samsung is always considered as a trend setter in the fashion class cell phones. Samsung e700 can be said as the proof of the above statement. Even it is a clamshell phone, but bears small dimensions (90 x 45 x 23 mm), no external antenna and a light weight (86 grams). This phone is almost equally popular among men and women which is very rare normally.

External features

Combination of blue and silver color gives a cool external look to the phone. External LCD is colored and can also act as a viewfinder which is the first of its kind. VGA camera is located above the external LCD. You can perform almost all required operations with the external LCD in a user friendly manner. The internal LCD is a TFT 128 x 160 vivid color display; it is not very bright under direct light. They keypad is fine having all the keys equally placed and the 4-way navigation key is also helpful to use the phone. Under normal conditions and usage, the battery can stand up to 3-4 days which is normal.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of Samsung e700 is the camera. The camera supports many resolutions (maximum 640 x 480) and many compression levels (fine, super fine, normal etc). You can view taken photos as thumbnails and you can make folders to arrange photos. Some predefined effects such as gray, negative, sepia, emboss and sketch are also present that can be applied on photos. Another important thing is that, you can select the number of frames during the shot mode.
You can send pictures to computer using the delivery kit that comes within the normal package. Pictures can also be sent via IrDa and MMS of course. Bluetooth is absent but is not really required for a fashion phone like this. Furthermore, the built in 9mb memory is large enough for such a phone. Hence a lot of pictures can be stored in the phone.

Other features

The main features of the phone are almost same as the previous models such as Samsung v200. There is nothing such as a really new concept in functionality. Phonebook can store up to 1000 entries. Java is supported, GPRS, wap browser 2.0 is also there. The phone doesn't seem to lack any organizer features, they're up to the mark according to the users of the phone.

Impression

This article is written almost six months after the release of this phone. But still now this phone is popular in the market and taking its share. The price has also gone down a bit. It's actually around 300 $. The competitors of the phone such as sonyericsson z600, Motorola v600 are not as popular as a fashion class phone as Samsung e700 is. Samsung e700 basically has plus points in its cool design and camera features.
