Battery Life

Nokia 7380 is equipped with Standard Battery BL-8N 700 mAh batteries that used to give about 180 minutes of GSM talk time and can be active in stand by mode for about 240 hours (more than 10 days) in a single battery charging.



Talking of the battery talk time, the battery is somewhat good than the battery of Motorola E770 by providing 10 minutes more talk time in a single charge, but the battery is as poor as Nokia 3250 giving the same talk time. I think that most of the batteries are giving over 200 and 300 minutes of talk time, consider Motorola Razr V3x that gives 300 minutes of talk time and even Nokia’s brands Nokia E-60 and Nokia E-61 used to give about 400 hours. The battery in Nokia 7380 can never challenge the batteries of Sony Ericsson’s brands which used to give about 3 times more time, e.g. Sony Ericsson P990.

Thickness

Overall Sony Ericsson W550 handset is quite in its dimensions but this might appear as a chunk in tight pair of jeans but the length and width are reasonable but still unable to compensate the thickness flaw. The handset should have been little thin just like Motorola’s popular brand, Razr.

Small Flat Keys

The handset has relatively small and flat keys that creates problem when the handset is used by mails having big thumb. Small keys are good for female handsets but being a popular walkman handset such keys don’t fit well in the scene. Secondly, keys should have been raised. Having such a beautiful D-Pad, this was quite surprising the handset is equipped with such bad keypad.

General

Sony Ericsson W550, a spinner handset much similar to the Sony Ericsson S700, is second walkman handset in a row by Sony Ericsson. The handset was announced to be launched in 4th Quarter of 2005 and at the moment it is easily available in the market. Sony Ericsson W550 is a tri band handset that supports GSM900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900.

At the moment Sony Ericsson has launched the handset in two face plates, smooth and plane white faceplate and soft rubber compound based Orange face plate, which might be a brand symbol for walkman handsets by Sony Ericsson as it is also present in Sony Ericsson W800.
