The cellphones of today's age are not only cellphones. Actually they are devices with which the world is trying to do whatever is possible. Someone is browsing the internet over it, someone taking pictures while someone is playing with games.
These are just a few examples. Infact there are unlimited innovations in this field. With multimedia and imaging, cellphone gaming also got a boost and marketplace. Some special techonologies, some spcial cellphones got developed in this context. Below, I will discuss the achievements and coming targets.Technologies
The basic aim would be to use the cellphone as one uses a game deck such as Game Boy Advance. Additionaly due to the availability of networks and connections; distributed and multiplayer features will be added to get over traditional gaming decks.Nokia has been maintaining its Nokia N-gage series in this context. Its normally based on Symbian, but specified for games. The shape, handling style gives you the feel of a game deck. Furthermore, bluetooth and multiplayer feature provide innovation and a lot of fun for game lovers. In paralell, exciting games are developed to run over these platforms.
Sonyericsson has also been working in this field and achieved many targets. At first, they introduced Mophun in their cellphones. Mophun is a gaming engine that uses cellphone's resourses perfectly for a game. In comparison, mophun games can provide nice graphics and effects with least processing involved. After mophun, Sonyericsson introduced Mascot 3D game engine in their cellphones. Mascot 3D game engine provides its programming interfaces with Symbian and Java, thus providing a way to create extreme 3D games for mobile devices and smartphones. The "Real Tennis" game equipped with Sony ericsson k700i is the best example in this context.
Motorola has also announced to use Mascot 3D game engine for their coming cellphones.
