Final Words
Memory
Motorola Rokr has only 75 MB of built-in internal memory that is shared among all of the applications like text messages, multimedia messages, ringing tones, images, video clips, calendar notes, to-do list etc. There is a MiniSD card slot available to extend the memory. Using the extension slot you can extend the memory up to 2GB or more. Nokia E-70 supports "Hot Swap" for easy MiniSD card insertion and removal. Hot swapping is the feature that enables the handset to swap out one memory card for another without removing the battery.
Nokia E-70 has the same internal available memory as Nokia E-61 has, 75 MB, but I would definitely say that Sony Ericsson wins in this bout as well by providing more internal memory than Nokia E-70 like Sony Ericsson P990 provides 80 MB of free memory, Sony EricssonW550 has 256 MB of internal memory and Sony Ericsson W900 has 470 MB of internal memory. So Nokia needs to think over the available memory in the handsets because I think that this is the maximum internal memory which Nokia has provided in any handset.
Same as with the expansion slot type because the MiniSD slot enables the handset to extend the memory up to 2 GB but Sony Ericsson's brands used to contain Memory Stick Duo Pro expansion slots that enables the handsets to increase the memory up to 8 GB. So this can be another feature for Nokia to work with.
GPS
Global positioning system is also a demanding feature for the users. So this could be great winning points for the handsets that will be incorporating this feature in their handset. Nokia being a big market player could have taken that step in order to maintain its position in the market. A new mobile phone series called TWIG, a joint venture of Benefon and NAVTEQ will be containing a fully integrated GPS system in them very soon.
Bluetooth Version 1.2
The handset supports Bluetooth and you can use Bluetooth handsfree along with the transfer of data in to and from the handset. But Nokia E-70 supports old version of Bluetooth, Version 1.2, which is becoming outdated nowadays. People are shifting from Version 1.2 to Bluetooth version 2.0. Just like Nokia has incorporated in Nokia 7380 that supports Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, so Nokia should have placed same technology in Nokia E-70 as well.
Miscellaneous
There are a lot of functions and it would not be possible to mention all of them, but I am trying to list some important ones;
- Help Desk connect allows the handset to send up-to-date information to the help disk before making a call to the help desk.
Conclusion
The handset, Nokia E-70, is the beauty in itself. Just think of a single feature that is missing in this handset. I bet, you could not think of. Beside a little blunder that Nokia has made by making a handset part of 3G community but not putting a dual camera in the handset.
Nokia E-70 handset provides a general purpose music player, but if you are such a big music fan then IPods are there to meet your needs, mobile phones are not meant for listening to music, although most of the handsets always try to facilitate the users by providing music players in the handsets, but this should not change the purpose of handset from calling to music listening.
Nokia E-70 is the best in the market by providing the consumers what they need like a handset providing highest screen resolution screen with landscape mode support, phone that is capable to be injected into any network by utilizing its WLAN power, handset that has VOIP capabilities, Emailing facility with Microsoft office support, conference calling and OMA DM feature.
So in short although this handset is going to be the market leader in next few days, Nokia should have spent some time in balancing the weight and dimensions of the handset by considering the needs of music lover and providing the Radio support. If these things have been in the handset, the handset would have been definitely the best of the best.
