It could be clearly seen that most of the recent work done by cellular phone
companies depict the advancement in multimedia features. It started with
integrating simple camera to a cell phone and nowadays, they're trying to make
people think that whether the device is a cell phone or a digital camera. As
the picture quality of built-in camera cell phones is increasing day by day;
you can even see mega-pixel cell phones too, there is a need of flash to make
things more close to real. I must say that as far as nokia accessory camera
flash is concerned, its still in the begining.
Features
The first issue that comes into my mind while implementing a flash module is
energy. Flash consumes a lot of energy. And if its taking power from cell phone
battery then you are heavily decreasing the standby time of battery. Nokia
comes with a solution that their accessory Camera Flash has its own
separate battery which could take 200 shots in one battery cycle. This nokia
accessory is compatible with Nokia 7610, Nokia 6630 and helps not only while
taking pictures but also brightens up the video. It directly connects to the
pop port (which is a standard interface to Nokia cell phones), so there is no
need of having any type of cables with you.
Conclusion
I think that implemting external flash is not the solution at which one is
totaly satisfied. I suggest a built-in flash in the cell phone which im sure
will be successfully implemented in the coming quarters. One disadvantage would
be that nokia camera flash accessory automatically charges itself
when connected to the phone i.e. still indirectly its using the cell phone
battery.
