3250

General

Nokia N91, a phone closely related to Nokia 3250, is a music phone with hard drive. But Nokia is quite intelligent and declared this handset as N91's junior version in order to maintain its sale.

Nokia 3250 is neither a spinner phone nor clamshell handset; rather it is unique at its own. It would not be an exaggeration to call this work of art a smart phone. It is there to suffice the needs of music listeners either in form of walkman or in form or tuning radio stations. Nokia 3250 neither lays down the needs of businessmen, connecting to external world while on the way by Email and similar belongings nor can forget about the short term or long term photographers. Nokia 3250 includes everything which can be required in any form of users. You can ask this handset a walkman phone, a shooting device or a tiny E-mail client, what ever name you can think, this handset is there to fit in that.

Although this is the one of the first few phones that has switched on to new S60 3rd Edition Operating System Platform but one can easily rely on its features.
The handset is expected to release in first Quarter of Year 2006 and hope that Nokia will fully achieve their quest of doing this.

Nokia 3250 is a tri band GSM handset that supports GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900 with the ability to automatic switching between the appropriate bands.

Package

Nokia 3250 is delivered with a beautiful package containing most of the accessories that can be required. Nokia 3250 package contains Nokia Battery Bp-6M, Nokia connectivity cable CA-53, Nokia Music headset HS-20, AD-41, Micro SD card, Trans Flash Memory card, Trans Flash Adapter, Adapter for Micro SD card, CD-Rom that contains PC Suite software, User guide and quick guide to help users in using the handset, a product leaflet and of course the handset is also there. Beside this the buyers in Europe, Middle East and Africa will also get Nokia Compact Charger AC-3 and Nokia Charger Adapter CA-44 along with the package.

Interface

Bar looking handset, Nokia 3250 provides half body rotation up to 270 degrees, 180 degrees from one side and 90 degree from other side (for mathematics interested users -90 to 180 degrees). You just need to twist the handset in any one direction to access the camera, music and phone functionality.

Nokia 3250 also has a joy-stick to provide the users ease of use, application key, edit and clear keys, send and end keys and dedicated music keys like play, pause, stop, rewind and forward.

Design & Display

Nokia 3250 is a little heavy handset but it is a joy to walk along with this master piece. The handset weighs 130 grams in total with the dimensions of 103.8 x 50 x 19.8 mm, and I don't think that any body will feel uncomfortable with the weight or dimensions.

Nokia 3250 has TFT display screen and is about 34.8mm x 41.1mm having resolution of 176 x 208 pixels and is capable of displaying 262,144-colors at a time.

The display is much similar to the one we can see in most of the Sony Ericsson's new brands like Sony Ericsson W550, K750 or W550, but overall the display is very attractive at its own and the user enjoys the better picture quality while playing games or watching videos.

Battery Life

Nokia 3250 is equipped with BP-6M 1100mAh that gives 3 hours GSM talk time and the handset can survive in stand by mode for about 245 hours (10 days) in a single battery charging.

Personally I am not satisfied with the performance of the Nokia's battery. There a lot of handsets in the market that used to give a better performance than the Nokia 3250's battery in both talk time as well as standby time.

Nokia 3250's battery is live for about only 3 hours to allow the users to talk as compared to the Sony Ericsson W550's battery which works fine for about 8.5 hours, Nokia E-series' battery is also capable to give a talk time of about 7 hours, The worst battery I came across was of the Black Berry that used to give only 4 hours of GSM talk time, but Nokia 3250's battery is even worse than that one and just gives the talk time of 3 hours. This would never make the users to buy this handset.

Even the battery is not good if comparing the Stand-by time. The battery gives worst performance than the Nokia W550's battery that gives about 400 hours of standby time even Nokia E-Series handsets are there who are supposed to give the performance of 260 hours, which makes a more than half day difference between the performances.

One can enjoy 10 hours of back to back music with a single battery charge, and if the network is disabled then one can enjoy listening to the music for 11 hours with standard headphones.
