v80 Fashion Cellular Phone

Motorola v80Motorola has just unveiled it new fashion phone i.e. Motorola v80. Motorola v80 is the successor of Motorola v70. The unique design of the phone separates it from other phones and makes it a mobile phone of fashion class. The features are almost same as Motorola V x00 series.

External look and feel

Motorola v80 handling modes are highly practical. When the phone is closed, the cell phone shows the external TFT display. You can read SMS messages, view call list when the phone is closed. With a flick of your finger, the cover rotates 180 degrees for ideal conversation size and with a slight rotation of the cover the phone switches to landscape mode. In landscape mode, only camera and picture viewing features would work. Being a fashion phone, Motorola v80 is equipped with internal antenna, which helps keep the phones rounded lines unspoiled.

Features

As previously discussed, feature wise Motorola v80 is much similar to Motorola v500 like phones. However, a few important and unique ones are useful to be discussed here. The internal VGA camera supports 640 x 480 resolution. Furthermore, the form factor and the ability to perform Image manipulation to resize, crop, zoom and add text to images gets you close to a true digital imaging experience. Bluetooth is present which even allows you to perform Peer to peer 2-way gaming. Mp3 ringtones can give you true music enjoyment. E-mail (POP3 and SMTP) and IM (instant messaging) provide you more extensibility to talk to friends and family. Personal productivity applications such as calculator, currency converter and stopwatch are present: and a lot more can be downloaded and used on the java MIDP 2.0 platform.

Shortcomings

A few disadvantages can be found in the phone. Such as, you can't answer incoming calls when the phone is in closed mode. This is because of the position of the speaker. Most of the times, this is not considered as a disadvantage. The opening and closing mechanism of the phone can work in only one direction i.e. left and up. This may be annoying for the left hand users. But with time one can get used to it. Another typical disadvantage may be the fact that the glossy surface of the phone collects noticeable handprints.

Conclusion

Motorola v80 is expected to be released in second quarter of 2004, having a price around 500 – 600. It can be predicted that the phone will be a successful one, but not to be a mass seller in the market. The main advantage the phone got is its unique form factor and relatively small size and weight.
