Multimedia Facilities

Motorola Rokr is incorporated with a MP3/MPEG4 music player. Along with the support of MP3 files, the music player is also capable to play AAC, MIDI and WAV format files.

The first ever handset, that is able to synchronize itself with ITunes software by Apple, Motorola Rokr. You can synchronize the handset just like any other IPod via a USB cable. The handset is able to play tracks from the ITunes music store, not only this one can fill the handset with music by using ITunes Auto fill feature. One thing to take care is that the capacity is limited to 100 songs, the capacity is unchanged either you fill it automatically or manually via USB cable. The limitation of 100 songs is may be because of the reason that Apple won't want to destroy its IPod music player business.

The approximate transfer time is 30 seconds for 4MB of music file; this is some what equal to 4 minutes for a song with 128 Kbps AAC encoding.

Not only this, you can rate a song from this handset and then the rating is synchronized with ITunes later on.

The handset is capable to support musical multitasking, you can hear a song while sending messages, taking pictures or browsing through your email box.
Motorola Rokr handset contains two 3D surround speakers producing a quality voice which you would definitely love to hear. The speakers are polyphonic and can produce a high frequency voice of up to 22 KHz. An interesting feature is the vibrating motion of the handset with music and games. Motorola Rokr handset contains a 3.5 mm headset Jack connector, which allows using personal headphones to listen to the music. So you have both the options available, either to listen to the music with your personal headphone or listen to the music loudly with 3D stereo speakers.

These days, handsets used to contain some advance media players, although the normal MP3 player serve the purpose but having other media players would have increased the charm of listening to the different format music files just like Nokia 3250 has Real player to facilitate the users by supporting diverse file formats. Also the file formats are quite limited, so Motorola was having the option to embed advance music player and support diverse music formats.

Most of the handsets these days have FM Radios support, as are present in most of the Nokia handsets; Nokia 7380 also owns a FM Stereo Radio gathering live music transmission over the air for listeners. Having support of ITunes synchronization can never be the substitute of the Radio compatibility. So to fully facilitate the music lovers, FM Radio can server the purpose.

Camera

Motorola Rokr has an integrated digital VGA camera, which is merely 0.3 mega pixels, supporting 4 x digital zoom with flash LED for better picture quality even in bad light. The camera supports the pictures of resolution 640 x 480. You can also capture and play back the movie clips using the camera mounted in this handset. Motorola with such a bad camera, it is quite amazing.

There are handsets in the market that provide a far better cameras like Motorola's own brands Motorola E770 and Motorola E1070 are having 1.3 mega pixels cameras. Motorola Razr along with Sony Ericsson brands, Sony Ericsson W900 and Sony Ericsson P990, and Nokia brands, Nokia 3250 and Nokia 7380 are having 2.0 mega pixel camera.

Considering the picture quality, you can say that the handset is able to provide some what good pictures in sunlight but if you are planning to take pictures in dark or less light then you will be disappointed. The performance in night mode is also awful and even the flash light could not improve the picture quality and pictures are used to be in blue color when printed.

In short, the camera performance is quite bad and Motorola would have definitely provided a good camera in order to make the photographic lover users buy it.
