e725 music phone

Motorola e725 music phone
After the successful acceptance of the terms i.e. multimedia phone, fashion phone, imaging phone etc; the word music phone has been coined by many cellphone companies. On march 2005, Motorola announced a couple of cellphones which they called as music phones. This includes motorola e680i and motorola e725. Motorola e725 is rather compact and has sliding form factor while motorola e680 bears the touchscreen. Both of them are based on linux.

New Features

There are several features that make motorola e725 a music phone. The phone comes with EV DO connector and 3.5 mm jack. Hence, you can broadcast music to your home stereo, car stereo, normal standardized headphones etc. Memory upto 1Gb is supported using MiniSD cards. FM tuner is built-in. Furthermore, there are several easy ways to get music into the phone. A standardized usb connectivity to the PC is present, the phone will support CDMA to download music from high speed networks. On another side of picture, stereo speakers and 3D sound is also present in the phone. You will also find LED lights, equalizer and other music handling facilities.
For other applications the phone supports linux and BREW (binary runtime environment for wireless). BREW is something like J2MEE but from a different vendor (QualComm) and additional security features.

Conclusion

The thing i found missing was the internal memory. Its just 48Mb, and to have the perfect use of this music phone, one should have a huge memory pool in terms of cards which are expensive. Remember Samsung is working on a music phone with internal 3Gb hard drive !!. In my opinion, this is just an intermediate phone, some features need to be finalized.
