c650

Motorola C350 was one of the best sellers by the company. It comes under the category of average class phones. Since there were some functionality lacks in the phone, Motorola has been planning to continuously release the successors of C350. Motorola C450, C550 and C650 are those successors. The latest one i.e. Motorola C650 takes the series more close to perfection.

Design

The design of Motorola C650 is interesting; it is a combination of silver plastic in the bottom with black glossy plastic on the upper part. The phone is not that expensive as it looks. You can be easily comfortable with the dimensions and weight, i.e. 103x44x20 mm and 91 grams. Another plus point is that the phone supports exchangeable covers. This feature is very important for the phones of average class. The reason being that, the users of this class usually don't buy phones that much and they want to refresh the external look by changing the covers whenever they want to.
Another improved thing is the display of the phone. Now it supports 65k colors on a 128 x 128 STN screen. The screen can be compared with Samsung C100. It turns pale under direct sunlight, but the screen is lot better than the previous phones.

Distinct features

Motorola C650 comes up with a lot of new features. The phone supports playback of video clips (mpeg 4), but is unable to record them. There is one preinstalled video clip in the phone. There is also a support for mp3 ring tones (mono, up to 96kbit stream). Java MIDP 2.0 is also present; the maximum size for an application is 100kb which is fine enough to take advantage of java on a cell phone. Some preinstalled games and applications are very handy. An application named FotoFunPack 2 is very handy; with this you can edit and add effects to your pictures. An original sound file editor named Moto Mixer is also present that allows mixing the tracks. Furthermore, a lot of other personalization features are present such as MMS, picture CLI and downloading pictures, wallpapers, ringtones, and screensavers.

Camera

The VGA camera has been improved a lot. It supports three preset resolutions, maximum at 640 x 480. The picture quality is fine and there are five presets for lighting conditions which helps you in taking fine pictures.

Conclusion

Right now, Motorola C650 doesn't have any competitors in the market. The screen quality is good, camera is fine, some distinct features are also there and the price is also very supportive for an average person. One disadvantage may be that the phone is unable to store SMS messages in it. You can only store SMS messages in the SIM. Right now its around 200 $ but will decrease up to 150 $ within a few months. For this price and functions, Motorola C650 is on the top list, but if you need more functions, you will definitely have to pay more.
