Motorola A630 got announced in Feb 2004 and released in Oct 2004. A few features were found missing too. Infact Motorola A630 does not depict something really new in features, some people even say that Motorola A630 is Motorola V600 in different shape. In my opinion, Motorola A630 gives the concept of a handly device which you use as a cell phone normally and unfold it open for other features like messaging, gaming, email etc.

Design

While closed, you will perceive an elegant candy-bar style cell phone. It is important to say that you can use all calling features from the cell phone without unfolding it, and it is a great advantage. While you open it, you can see full QWERTY keyboard and a landscape 220 x 176 pixel TFT color screen. Again interesting to note that the screen resolution is same as of normal cell phones but in a landscape direction. So, the internal LCD is small, even there is space for a large LCD. Thats why people say it a V600 in different shape.

Features and Descripencies

It was said that Motorola A630 will have an Operating system like Symbian or MS Smartphone, but actually it is not and everything looks like hard coded in it. Features such as email, IM are there but they're not given a specialized look as they should be in such type of device. Inclusion of AOL messenger is appreciable though. Similiarly people miss the HTML browser feature.

Conclusion

I am still not sure about the theory of designing Motorola A630. If they need to specialize it for messaging people, there should be a large screen, specialized IM and email which i think could easily be incorporated; but these things are not there. May be these features were missing to balance the price, or may be Motorola just aimed at a new fashion concept. If you are a Motorola fan and liked its design, then i recommend it for you. And i dont recommend if you need it for specialized IM or email.
