Cell Phone Technology TDMA, CDMA, GSM
Like all the major technologies, cellular phones too have gone through a major metamorphosis and that is why a number of technologies can be seen prevalent in the mobile industry right now.If briefly categorized, the cellular phone technologies fall into two kinds:
- Analog
- Digital
Analog cell phone technology
It must be mentioned here that analog technology was the one that was in use for the last so many years as well as decades. No doubt it has gone through a major development process and that is the major reason for it's been so popular throughout the world. Besides being an old technology it has the largest coverage throughout the world and most of the analog companies are still the only companies to provide cellular phone services to areas where the other phones are not available. The analog technology for cellular phones is called AMPS (Advance Mobile Phone Service) and works in the 800 Mhz frequency use. As a cell phone acts like a radio, hence an analog technology transmits your voice through the air just like in an FM radio. It is just because of the very fact that in an analog mobile you can only transmit the voice not data as the quality of voice depends on the various conditions like atmosphere, weather and things like that. Analog Technology is known to be the 1st Generation Technology.Digital cell phone technology
On the other hand Digital Technology is the latest one to hit the cellular industry and within years it has revolutionized the whole industry and most of the mobile companies are now providing one of the various digital services. With an increased frequency range from 800 Mhz and 1900 Mhz, the quality of voice and data is excellent because of the very fact that both the things are transmitted in the form of binary code to give as accurate results as possible. A whole process works in encoding the voice and data in the binary form and then decoding it back to the real form of data and voice. Because of this unique feature, digital mobile phones doesn't offer only the voice transmission features but also much more unique features like text messages, WAP and much more. They have literary changed the whole concept of mobiles in the industry with the whole new technology and the changes that it has done. Digital Technology is known to be the 2nd Generation technology because of its vast changes and development.Due to the vast development in the digital technology, there are four different types of digital technologies including
- TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access),
- CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access),
- GSM (Global Systems for Mobile Communications) and
- ESMR (Enhanced Specialized Mobile Radio).
